Differences between Bernzomatic gases
Propane – Blue 400 grams TX9
Ideal for welding copper pipes, heating frozen pipes and rusty nuts, softening paint and other low-temperature DIY and art projects, as well as for use in the kitchen. Use with all burners is possible from Bernzomatic as well as other brands and barbeques
PRO/MAX – Yellow 400 grams MG9
Ideal for Brazing larger copper tubes, heat treating, PRO/MAX delivers a higher flame temperature, allowing tasks to be completed faster. Choose a burner specifically designed to work with PRO/MAX fuel such as the Bernzomatic TS4000 or the TS8000 Max Heat Torch.
Butane (mixed gas – lighter gas)
Ideal for light soldering or detailed work, butane gas is compatible with small, handheld tools such as micro burners. It is also the suitable fuel used for Bernzomatic utility lighters.
Oxygen together with PRO/MAX
Oxygen / MAP-Pro: Ideal for cutting and welding thin metal when you don’t need a sharp flame, as with an oxygen-acetylene burner. A special oxygen-fueled burner is required. We do not use red gas knives because of the low pressure (6bar). We use a 110 bar white welded steel bottle.
Bernzomatic gas cylinder connection
Bernzomatic cylinders have a CGA600 – US 1″ connection. All Bernzomatic burners fit these cylinders. Other brands with a USA connection also fit this. Consider brands such as Coleman.
